Bishop John Baker was the presiding Prelate of Open the Blinded Eyes True Holiness Ministries, Inc., a ministry he founded with his wife, Minister Vanessa Baker in 2000. He operated under a five-fold anointing and many miracles, healings, deliverances occurred under his ministry. Bishop Baker was called by God to preach the uncompromising gospel in an unpopular time, often time quoting Hebrews 12:14, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” He carried this mandate since being called into the ministry in September 1990.
Bishop Baker served faithfully under the leadership of Pastor R. L. Gant at Mt Zion Baptist Church and in 1994, God call him to serve as the Under-Shepherd of Harmony Baptist Church. Shortly thereafter, Pastor Baker was called to the office of Bishop and was ordained by Bishop Robert Davis in 1998. In 2006, he completed his Bachelor of Religious Arts in Theology at the Clarion School of Ministry in Blackwell, Oklahoma.
Bishop Baker was a well-known figure throughout Navarro County, serving on several boards in different capacities. He was instrumental in the formation of the Dream Center which was a home to assist those battling drug addictions. He served as the Chairman of the Board for the Housing Authority of Navarro County and the Food Pantry for several years. Currently, Bishop sat on the board for what is know called Compassion Corsicana, which aims to centralize social services and provide residents with opportunities to better their lives. He was instrumental in the formation of the jail ministry in Navarro County and has even ministered to inmates on death row. He served as a rotating chaplain at the local hospital where God has used him to perform countless miracles.
Bishop was a native of Houston, TX; however, Corsicana was his home for nearly 25 years. He was married to Minister Vanessa Baker for over 27 years and in his spare time, Bishop enjoyed spending time with his family and going fishing. Bishop Baker proved throughout the years, that “he would rather obey God, than man.”
Bishop Baker served God, his family, church, and community faithfully until God called him home on February 25, 2019.
Minister Vanessa Baker serves as the Founding 1st Lady of Open the Blind Eyes True Holiness Ministries and has proven that she can serve in whatever capacity is needed. She has been called by God to be an authoritative voice to encourage others to pursue a holy way of living. Often, during the course ministering, she quotes “Romans 6:1-2a What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.” Lady Baker’s primary ministerial mission is to encourage others to live a life which pleases God.
Saved during a house prayer service under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Gant, Founding 1st Lady Baker has been in the vineyard working since 1987. God found a willing spirit and faithfulness in her and called her into the ministry and she preached her first sermon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in 1990. She met and married Minister John Baker in 1991, and in 1994 obeying the will of God and submitting to her husband, she stepped into the role of the First Lady of Harmony Baptist Church as her husband was ordained the Pastor. When her husband was promoted to the office of a Bishop in 1998, Lady Elect Baker stood alongside him as God elevated their ministry. In the year of 2000, she and her husband birth Open the Blind Eyes True Holiness Ministries.
Founding First Lady Baker has not buried the talents God has blessed her with but has put them to work for the edifying of the Kingdom. She served under her husband wherever she was needed; however, specifically in the Kitchen Ministry, Mission, and Special Events Ministry such as appreciations for the Musical Department, Church Clerk, and Church Treasurer.
Founding 1st Lady Baker is concerned about the well-being of all including those she may have never had an experience with. Countless times she has provided food, clothing, and with the help of the church, assisted financially with helping homeless individuals find shelter.
Founding 1st Lady Baker is a native of Lancaster, TX; however, she now resides in Corsicana with family. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her natural and church family, fishing, and “searching for treasures”.
When God called her husband home in 2019, Founding 1st Lady Baker never wavered in her faith. Her anthem is, "I've made it this far and it's by the grace of God.”
